Thom Markee
After completing a foundation year at The Art Institute of Boston, where
he studied fine arts, art history and photography, Thom decided to pursue a
carrier in cosmetology. First assisting and studying at Vidal Sassoon, for
two years. Here, he learned advanced cutting and styling techniques.
Thom went on to work at two of the most sought after salons on
Newbury St., at the time, Sal Sanazarro and James Joesph Salon. Thom
was awarded Best Men’s Hair Cut, by Improper Bostonian Magazine in
2001.
In 2002, he moved to NYC, to pursue hair and his art. While working in
various salons in the city and Brooklyn, Thom also worked on photoshoots,
working a few times with Nylon Magazine, as well as Time Out NY. His art
work landed in the Village Voice and in an advertisement for the popular
night club, Crowbar. He also participated in many group shows throughout
the city, and still does today here in Provincetown.
In 2007, Thom did an episode of Split Ends, on the Style Network.
